How can I volunteer to help at the New York State "Odyssey of the Mind"TM Tournament?Officials: At an Odyssey of the Mind sanctioned competition, each long-term and spontaneous problem solution site will be manned by a judging team. These teams generally include a Problem Captain, head judge, problem judges, style judges, timekeeper and staging area judge. Spontaneous competition sites will be manned by at a least three judges. These judges evaluate and score each teams' problem solution. No special skills or talents are necessary to become an NYSOMA Judge, however, all judges must be certified before our tournament and therefore are required to attend a Regional Judges Training and Certification Seminar, all NYSOMA Judges must have judged at a regional competition during the same competition season. Volunteers: There are a variety of other jobs that we always need to staff to make the Tournament run well. So if your not interested in being a judge or missed qualifying as a judge for this year, here is a good way to be involved. All volunteers are tournament officials just like the judges and receive the same level of support. So, how do I apply? Web registration is not yet ready. In the meantime, please contact Sharon Porter, the Judges Coordinator at sharonlp@rochester.rr.com .
