Board Meeting Highlights - October 21, 2006
The NYSOMA Board held its second meeting of the program year October 21 in Herkimer.
Frank Brosnihan resigned as Secretary to the Board. The Board appointed Harriet Carter as Secretary to the Board.
Jackie Otte represented NYSOMA at the Association Directors meeting. One of the areas of discusses was the changes to this year's Program Guide. One of the changes for this year is divisions will be determined by a participants grade in school not age.
Each association will identify someone to be as an international liaison to help Mabry King to arrange host families for home stays.
The NYSOMA Fall RD meeting was held on Friday October 20. Jackie reported that all but 3 regions were represented. The Spring RD meeting will be held June 1, 2007.
Head judge/ problem captain training will again be held this year in Binghamton on January 6. Invitations will be mailed in November.
The Marketing committee presented designs for this year’s NYSOMA pins. The board based on the committee’s suggestions, decided on items to be purchased for sale and on items to be provided for consignment sales to the regions.
The Summer Camp was discussed but dates and places for 2007 have not been determined. Participants from 2006 camps voiced an interest in having the camps in early fall rather than summer.
The Board discussed past and possible future recipients of the Friends of NYSOMA award. Stay tuned for this year’s recipient to be announced at the State tournament.
The next board meeting will be in Binghamton on January 7, 2006.
