The NYSOMA Board held a one-day meeting February 10 at the Carter residence in Fairport. The focus of this meeting is to prepare for the State Tournament, March 31 at SUNY Binghamton. All those planning to be officials at the tournament make sure you have submitted your information to Sharon Porter.

Again this year we will be able to have one closing ceremony in Events Center. We have however scheduled it an hour earlier to accommodate the requests of many of the teams that will be travel home after the ceremony.

This year board members will do visitations to regional tournaments. The regions we will plan on visiting are 4, 6, 7, 8, and 12. These visitations provide a means for the exchange of ideas and recommendations with the goal of providing a successful tournament. The Board encourages each region to conduct a self-evaluation using the worksheet available in the RD area.

Scholarship applications are been received and reviewed. The final determinations will be announced at the State Tournament.

Spontaneous Combustion Plus will be presented in the fall next year. The two locations will be Pittsford and Ballston Spa; dates have not been set yet. See the NYSOMA website for additional details, as they become available.

The next board meeting will be on April 1 in Binghamton.
